LONDON – Serena Williams wasted little time in winning the first individual gold medal in her illustrious career, dispatching Maria Sharapova on Saturday and losing just a single game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
And then she took another step towards a second golden moment as she and sister Venus won their doubles semifinal to advance to Sunday’s gold-medal match against Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic.
After their doubles victory, Serena and Venus spoke with our Ted Emrich.
