OMAHA — Arizona jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to Robert Refsnyder’s first-inning home run and Konner Wade was dominant again, as the Wildcats downed South Carolina 5-1 in the first game of the College World Series finals.
Refsnyder was 2-3 with 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored and reached base two more times on walks. He also made a stellar defensive play to stop a potential Gamecocks rally when he threw out Adam Matthews at third from right field with no outs in the 7th.
Wade was equally as impressive on the mound, spinning his second complete game in a row in Omaha. Wade allowed just one run on 6 hits for the Wildcats, who are now one win away from the school’s first baseball title since 1986.
