Full Interview: Connecticut Head Coach Geno Auriemma

04/01/2012

DENVER, CO – Just how high has Geno Auriemma set the standard for success at UConn?  People are shocked when the Lady Huskies DON’T reach the Final Four.

But lately, that hasn’t been a problem.  Auriemma’s troops are in their fifth consecutive Final Four, seeking to win their third national title in that stretch.  If Geno and company cut down the nets on Tuesday night, they will tie Tennessee for the most national titles all-time in women’s college basketball, with eight.

Connecticut will take on Big East rival Notre Dame for the right to advance to the national championship game.  The Irish swept UConn during the regular season – as well as denied them a shot at a third straight national title in last year’s Final Four – but the Lady Huskies defeated Notre Dame to capture the Big East Tournament crown this season.

Debbie Antonelli caught up with Auriemma prior to their showdown against Notre Dame.
