2011 QUICKEN LOANS CARRIER CLASSIC

Season-Opening Basketball Game to Take Place Aboard Navy Aircraft Carrier

Dial Global Sports is proud to tip off its coverage of the 2011-2012 NCAA basketball season with a live broadcast of the 2011 Quicken Loans Carrier Classic from San Diego. The game between the Michigan State Spartans and North Carolina Tar Heels will be played outdoors on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson on Veterans Day, November 11th. The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier will be docked at the Port of San Diego for the game.

James Worthy, who won the 1982 NCAA Tournament with North Carolina, and Magic Johnson, whose Michigan State team won the 1979 Championship, will serve as honorary captains for their alma maters.

Kevin Kugler will handle play-by-play duties for Dial Global Sports, with former Michigan and Arizona State head coach Bill Frieder providing color commentary. Jim Gray will serve as courtside reporter and Jason Horowitz will host the pregame, halftime and postgame shows. Coverage will begin at 6:45 PM Eastern on Dial Global Sports. The broadcast will also air around the world on the Armed Forces Network, as well as be available via a live stream at DialGlobalSports.com.

From the Carrier Classic then on to the Pre-Season NIT Tournament, the regular season and on into Conference Championship Week, Dial Global Sports will broadcast more than 40 regular season NCAA basketball games during the 2011-2012 season. Dial Global Sports is also the radio home of the NCAA Basketball postseason, including live coverage of all 67 Men’s tournament games, the Women’s Regional Finals and Final Four, the NIT semifinals and finals from Madison Square Garden and the Division II Men’s Championship Game.
